Just watched a show on Optus Channel national Geographic. The Money Fish Down to earth report from both rec / commercial fishers. Both are saying how the Vic Gov has cooked the figures in favour of the commercial fisher, and they are standing up saying we didnt catch or earn what they are saying. very interesting if you can catch the show, recs saying how they keep a small seaside resort going with the tourist dollar, commercial guys denying because they are there 365 days of the year spending money, the truth how the place will suffer if its made a no go zone to commercial fishers, the list goes on, try and watch it.
cheers.

The was originally on the ABC (prior to the Vic marine park fiasco) a little while back, Corner Inlet or somewhere like that ??? but where ever it was it ended up being hijacked anyway (with no scientific anything) into one of the Vic gov marine parks.

Cheers, Kerry.

Wasnt anything scientific about it kerry, was just plain honest reporting not like the 60 minutes fiasco, with everone screaming and threatening each other, so what did you think of the show itself.
cheers.

Jaybee, no there wasn't anything scientific about it and neither was the reasoning behind the marine parks but most Vic's are now lumbered with those decisions.

From what I recall the program was fairly evenly and realistically reported and in many respects one could see the reasoning and understanding behind the commercial fisho's.

The tourist side was the same old stuff from basically a group of holiday makers who want to keep it as they want it for themselves.

Cheers, Kerry.

G'day Jaybee,
I agree and very much enjoyed watching
“The Money Fish" (http://www.abc.net.au/tv/documentaries/stories/s250681.htm) (edited version) as l did when it first came out in March.

In April it was interesting to hear Joe Pinsone speak about the then proposed marine parks at a meeting at Grantville that l attended.

Of course since then Marine Parks were passed into legislation and took effect from Nov 16th, however the 1550ha Corner Inlet marine park will still allow recreational and commercial fishing to continue only up until 01 April 2004.
