I've just scared everyone here in the office out of the water this Christmas. I'm also making a new rule - No scuba diving in New Zealand.

Feel sorry for the poor hammerhead, probably didn't have much of a chance, just how big was the other shark ........

I was just reading The largest officially recorded was 6.4 metres (21 feet) long and weighed 3312 kg/ 7302lb. There have been many exaggerated claims of specimens over 30 feet but most of these have been proved to be false. It is currently believed the maximum these sharks can grow is up to 25 feet. In 1978, a shark was caught which was measured at 9 metres (29.5 feet) but it was not officially verified.
this is the great white.
and the mako In 1988, three Western Australian fishermen got a huge fright when a 10 foot (3 metre) Mako shark lept into their boat. It knocked two of the fishermen into the water when it hit the boat which was only 5.5 metres long. The shark was estimated to weigh about 200 kg and as it trashed about no one could do anything. The men radioed for help and an hour later when when a rescue boat arrived the shark had died but not before nearly destroying the entire boat. enjoy your fishing ;D
