You're not wrong about Turkey Phill,I guess every rose has it's thorns. We use the same as you with a small bottle of Tea Tree oil in there as well.

The metho, baby oil and detol works a treat. Mix into a spray bottle and the mozzies and sandflies won't come near you.

I have to agree with Lucky Phill, that recipe seems to do the job nicely. ;)

I used that at the M&G at Mission Point and it kept most of the little buggers at bay.

If you want to use it during the day you can also add 15+ sunscreen and it will stop one from getting sunburnt as well. ;)

Cheers,

Dominator.

i've found a hooded flanelett shirt tucked into jeans, tucked into footy socks works better that any repelent. you could even go all-out and wear a hat with corks dangling from it.

also a couple of anti-histamines before a trip will stop you from coming up in welts, but be careful, some will cause drowsiness.

I believe the Army in timor where using Dettol and Baby Oil mixed together, Only concerns is that the Baby oil makes sun burn worse and the dettol can cause skin irritations.

We use a mix of dettol and baby oil, but primarily spray it on ours clithes rather than on ourselves,

The baby oil will work for sandflys without any dettol, they get stuck in the oil when they try to bite.

First of all rub on some alcohol, then some beach sand.
The mossies and sandflies get drunk, then start throwing rocks at one another.

Hi

If you are looking to use something more natural try the following

20 drops lemongrass
25 drops spike lavender
15 drops of pine
or
20 drops geranium
20 drops eucalyptus
20 drops citronella
with
100ml of sweet almond oil or 100gm Moisture Cream Base

You can buy the Essential oils from www.sunspirit.com.au or www.perfectpotion.com.au
