Went fishing today at Lota (beside the boat harbour).

I caught a fish that I have been unable to identify.

It was approx 12-13cm long, it had a dorsal fin similar to a bream, however its body was more elongated than a bream, but less rounded than a whiting (if that makes sense). It was silver with darkish brown stripes running lengthwise, and obviously had a liking for bloodworm. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me so I am unable to supply a photo.

Anyone know what it might be?

Thanks

Cubesy

P.S. Besides the yet to be identified fish, we caught 5 bream the biggest of which would be lucky to have been 15 cm.

I threw the bugger straight back in because it was so small and I didn't know whatt it was. I wrapped a rag around it to get it off the hook as I wasn't sure if it was dangerous!

I couldn't use it for bait anyway as it was about the same size as the other fish we were catching.
