Contact the local council of the areas you are interested in. They are used to supplying them to local businesses etc. Most of the Queensland stuff seems to come from a company called Sunmap - who I have not been able to contact directly yet (probably haven't tried hard enough) But it was easy to get the council to help out :P

I went through this when trying to find maps for the Gold Coast area. Had all sorts of knockbacks until a real estate agent told me to call the council - that did the trick.

Cheers
Steve.

There is a software product called Endeavour5. Which is made by an Australian company called HSA systems. This software allows the user all route planning functionality and interaction with both GPS and all NMEA sentences.
There is also a product called Seafarer Viewer which can be used just to View this Data. This is a viewer only and as a result is much cheaper then Endeavour5
If you are interested in this Ill send you some info. Reply with a mailing address or an email

Cheers

Rob

Once "Seafarer" is mentioned then we're not talking something for nothing, otherwise certain copyright people might get interested.

Apart from the cost of SeaFarer charts (starting at about $54 a single and up to something like $1600 for the full set), software like Endeavour (and Oceanvision & Cplot95 & a few others) is all third party and Licenced to the AHO. It's not cheap either.

Cheers, Kerry.

Can't help with maps/charts, but look at oziexplorer (www.oziexplorer.com) - developed by a Queenslander and is excellent for 4WDing. Links to my Garmin easily and I'm never lost!!!

Hi Caveman,
I have got 50 000:1 maps of about the Jardine River and Cape York. They are fairly detailed. Now that I have moved back down south I don't have much use for them.
Give me a yell and I can post them to you for a stickybeak
Talking about maps. Is there a program that I can put GPS co-ordinates in and they show up on a map that dosen't cost an arm and a leg. Don't want to put routes etc just marks
cheers

Rob, my impression is that Caveman wanted to know if there were cheaper versions than the normal published type variety. Unfortuneately these types of things don't come cheaply, that's just the way it is.

For my/your next impression I know enough about SeaFarer and all the third party providors (including Endeavour) that are licenced to use Seafarer to sort of get the impression your more than simply a carto, by trade (so might I) and more of a agent by business.

I would like to think that if there's a vested interest in the product your suggesting (selling) then the correct thing to do would be to put that interest, up front, if in fact that is the case? If that's not the case then you might like to correct my impression.

Cheers, Kerry.

Re-reading My posts I can see how you may think that.

Im not a sales agent nor do I recieve any financial gain for passing on information.

All i do is support 100% owned Australian companies

So what do you do Kerry ???

Me :o you mean in what I do ??? what some might call a Geo-Spatial specialist :-/, but of course that covers lots of things.

Where does Cplot fit in that policy thinking?

:) hey aren't we all fellow fishos here there is no need to start having a go at each other :(

That's no having a go#at each other :o that's just clarifying certain things and sometimes these things need to be done to keep things on the one level and above board. Nothing asked, nothing gained.

Cheers, Kerry.
