Hi Rob,

I fish mainly in Hervey bay and am not overly familiar with toogom. About the only knowledge I can pass on is that just outside of Toogoom and around to your right is one of the more popular whiting grounds - just look for the bunch of boats and join the crowd. While at the whiting grounds there's a chance you might pick up a mackeral or 2 (you'll know when they're about as you'll be pulling in whiting heads rather than whole fish ;D

Your boat will be fine there in good conditions - I take my 3.8m tinny accross there from gattakers quite often. Preferably the wind should be from S/E. A northerly wind and it gets messy, a westerly and the fish go off the bite.

I've only had a cursory look up the creek there, one thing for sure is make sure you have a very good repellant, the sandflies there are the worst i've come across! :P
