What a joke. Previous convictions and sixty under sized and all you get is 8 weekends worth of lawn mowing. Why didn't they confiscate car/boat or car/house and see if he'll do it again.

Mr Dunn said the case showed courts were willing to impose tough penalties on abalone thieves, particularly repeat offenders.

“Anyone illegally catching abalone faces penalties of up to $11,000 and/or three months imprisonment for an individual, or $55,000 for a corporation,” Mr Dunn said.

I ask why didn't they impose this fine?
