Fishing clinic for people with disabilities in Batemans Bay

June 18, 2003

Up to 20 people with disabilities with attend a special fishing clinic at Batemans Bay on Saturday, June 21, the Director of NSW Fisheries, Steve Dunn, said today.

Mr Dunn said the clinic, being run by NSW Fisheries with assistance from local care organisation Eurocare, will help participants learn about fishing and then put their skills into practice.

“The clinic will give people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy a day’s angling,” he said.

“It’s a great day out and good way to learn more about fishing and the aquatic environment.”

The clinic will be held at Batemans Bay Park. Participants will be able to fish in the Clyde River after learning basic fishing skills.

Mr Dunn said fishing clinics are held around the State as part the NSW Fisheries commitment to teaching people about recreational fishing and conservation.
