G'day,
I have a quandry. I want to go fishing maybe next month. Somewhere hot probably after pelagics. #Need to take waife who hates fishing #:-X
So need a place where she can be in very nice surroundings whilst I go out either on day trips, hire boat or a combination of the above.
Any suggestions #???
Even offshore would/could be considered mayebe.
Look forward to any feedback
cheers
PS had thought maybe Darwin, Port Douglas, Fiji with no particular knowledge or reason

Hi and welcome Bawldrick (are you possibly a "Black Adder" fan ???),

Where are you based and what's your budget for this Fishing Holiday ?? I've done a fair bit of travelling fishing (Fiji, Bali, Phillipines,Timor) and to say the least it was mostly very dissappointing.
I've yet to visit Darwin, but that would be high on my suggestion list. Your wife can enjoy the 'Resorty' thing around the pool, while you can utilise the various Charter and Boat hire services that are available.

Maybe one of our 'Top end' members can fill you in on the finer details of a NT Fishing holiday.

If the wife hates fishing that much, I'd leave her at home. That second airfare could buy a lot of Beer !! :-X :-X ;)

Cheers
Craigie.

Thanks Craigie,
Yeah lotsa beer ::) Not sure if I could swing it though. As far as budget goes certainly couldn't run to a solo charter fee (as I would be alone) but I guess was thinking $200-$300 per day. I tried Fiji once before and was not impressed at all. Had a week in New Guinea (WOW!!), but there is no way I could get Her Majesty anywhere near that place.

If you can get to Darwin, you gotta go. If you can afford Broome.........you double gotta go.

Port Douglas is a hot spot as well (on the right boat), and there are heaps of other waifes to look at. But I believe your better off heading up to Ccooktown, and going with a charter from there. There are alot of reefs up that way quite close to the coast, with only a fraction of rec fisho's making it up that far.

You will never beat the NT and WA hot spots.

There is an exceptional resort in Arnham land called, 'Walkabout Resort', they reckon you book in for the next year after your first days fishing. have a look.

Depending on the budget I would suggest the following in no particular order

Darwin - http://www.barrahotline.com.au/
Have been on a few charters with Martin and highly reccommend him.

Seven Spirit Bay - http://www.sevenspiritbay.com.au/
Plan on getting there later this year.

Vanuatu - http://www.vanuatutourism.com/

Haven't been there for quite a few years. Brilliant place to stay and fish.
