squid caught any

has anyone heard of any squid this year we got a couple of little ones and that was it last year the were plentaful what sort of gear is everybody useing?

when squidding i head out to old woman island in the afternoons, i use a 8kg uglystik baitcaster rod and abu ambassadeur 7000 reel with 20lb line.. i use a size 7.0 squid jig which is one of the big buggers.. bout 20cm long.. maybe bigger.. in a red tiger colour or blue tiger... both work extremely well, just cast out as far as i can.. mainly aiming for the white wash on the front rock wall and just slowly winding in, average squid is on 3kg.. but ive gotten them to 7kg just let them squirt there ink.. they are messy buggers..
