The Federal Environment Minister has agreed to review the final zoning plan for the Great Barrier Reef, after a meeting on Friday in Mackay.

Banana prawn trawlers and commercial line fishing operators met David Kemp and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority chairwoman Virginia Chadwick to put forward their continuing concerns.

Dr Kemp says he will review the final plan and understands that proposed yellow and blue zones are areas of contention.

"I know that there is great concern over the yellow zones amongst the commercial fishers," he said.

"There is of course a very substantial recreational and tourist interest as well.

"Various points were made about the possible impact of the yellow zones on fishing and over-fishing in particular areas, and I think all of that was useful imput into the final considerations."
