g'day all
Friends of mine have a house at amity point for a week. The house is right on the water front, as im not very familiar with the area, i was wondering if anyone knows what sort of anchorage is available at amity, as i was thinking of going over for a couple of days and anchoring boat out the front of the house. Any information would be much appreciated.
PS and what sort of wind would make it unsuitable for anchoring in that area. thanks lee

You can anchor up around the jetty.I would use 2 anchors for piece of mind. The bottom is sandy but some rocks are around and can get shallow at low tide. With a small boat you could even beach it on the high tide. But the vagrants might take a liking to it.
There is a safe anchorage towards Dunwich but you will need a tender to transfer back to Amity.
If the house is along the rock wall I would not advise to anchor there as the current can run pretty strong and your boat will get a free swim at the bar in no time.
Cheers Kev.
