The council is opening the stinger net tomorrow morning at Balgal Beach (50k north of Townsville) so to celebrate there is a weekend of events in the area.
For fishos under 16, our club is running a junior fishing comp 10am-1pm at Fishermans Landing with a heap of prizes and free icecreams. Bait will be supplied. BYO tackle and parent!
Other stuff includes raffles and BBQs at The Landing on Saturday and on Sunday there is a breakfast at Rollingstone Pub followed by a Car Rally thingy at the nearby park from 12 noon.
The council is expecting a couple of thousand visitors over the 2 days so we'll be there flogging fish sandwiches and raffle tickets! And with the wind expected to be "fresh" the whole weekend, there's not much else to do.
