Are you the next fishing super star?
I need photos on a regular basis for fishing newspaper columns.
If you have a recent good close up photo (must have a fish in the picture - sorry Phill no distorted lycra shapes).
Email it to me - nugget@ausfish.com.au

The size of the image is not that important, although bigger is better, however the finished file should be over 1 meg for me to extract enough pixels for publication.
If in doubt - email it to me and I'll let you know.
You get brag rights and a mention in the text that will start you on your climb to stardom - and that's about all!
I also need some details of the capture including the angler's name, aprox location, size of the fish (weight or measure).
Details of bait, tide etc would also ad interest to the photo.
Oh and they have to be SE Qld species.

Jeffo

Most film labs will put regular film on to a CD for a pretty reasonable price (the one I go to in town charges an extra $5 on top of the regular processing fee). You can then email or edit the photo or even post them here :D

I certainly don't include a photo for the money (there isn't any) - The photos just ad interest to the column and I thought some Ausfish members might like to see themselves in the paper.

Nugget, have a huge collection of many different species of fish many different fishermen. A lot of them are taken with a 5 megapixel digital so resolution should be fine. Always getting new ones too. Just name the species you would like, good chance I would have one for you just let me know.

If you ever need some photos of fish your readers could experience in the Darwin area Northern Territory, (Probably exactly the same as what you get, but bigger hee hee) let me know.

Yeah Nugget how about a monthly report of what's gettin caught from other parts of the world (or bimonthly...whatever). We can send the odd one in to chuck in the newsletter from time to time if you think it's a good idea?

What Prestons - who dat?
"short people got no reason to live..."

Hey Daintreeboy - you just talked youself into a job.
I write 7 weekly columns already - your turn.

Here's another thought.
If you're a member of a fishing club, email me the location and dates of club weigh ins and I'll try to drop in - camera in hand.
(must be around Brisvagas area.)

Hello
A piccie BnB has yet to post, I don't know if anyone can take one, but one day , I would love to see a clear piccie of the shark, or whatever the huge dark objects are sometimes cruise past, in the bay.
I've opted to move the boat only a couple of times, when the fin has broken surface, surely we can't be the only ones in the bay , that have had that experience!
Cheers

G'day,
I've sent some pics down to Brad Smith and he may post one in his BnB column next month. They are of two of the best whiting I have ever caught. One went 456g and the other went 412g.
They fought too.

Good fishin.

Thanks to all those that have replied as well as those that have sent pix direct.

In order to publish photos they need to meet a certain format.
In order to show what is required I've taken the liberty of stealing a photo from Lee to use as a demo.
The first is the original.
The second is what would be published by a newspaper.
These fish are classic catch quality and it would be a shame not to see them in print.
If you're ever taking pix with the hope of publishing - take note.
1 - Frame your photo so there is as little as possible - just the fish and angler.
2 - If your camera can - Use flash even in the middle of the day.(it's called fill flash)
3 - If you're using a digital camera - take the photo at the max size it is capable of - it can always be reduced but can not be increased without loosing quality.

Keep them coming - keep me in mind when you do have a good fish to brag about.

G'day Nugget,

There is a not so secret club trip next weekend to Bjelke-Petersen Dam that could do with a quality Photographer if your interested (never miss an opportunity to plug the next M&G).
Thanks for the chance to have our mellons shown in print ;), now we just have to catch some decent fish :-/ ;D

Regards
Craigie.
