Fresh fishing guides out now
December 3, 2003
NSW Fisheries today released its new 2003-2004 Fishing Guides for freshwater and saltwater angling, in time for the States’ peak recreational fishing season.

NSW Fisheries Director-General Steve Dunn said the free guides, along with summaries of NSW fishing rules and a pocket-sized tide chart, are being distributed to fishing licence outlets Statewide.

“This information is just what families and holiday anglers need to know to enjoy a great day’s fishing,” Mr Dunn said.

The guides - supported by funds from NSW recreational fishing licences - detail up-to-date fishing rules, including bag and size limits, help anglers identify what they’ve caught, provide handy fishing tips and safety advice, and give information about our aquatic environment.

“These easy-to-understand publications are a key part of NSW Fisheries’ commitment to helping the community and anglers take care of our aquatic environment so that we can continue to enjoy it into the future,” Mr Dunn said.

“They also provide fishers with information about fishing licences, recreational fishing havens and protected areas like aquatic reserves, marine parks, as well as rock fishing safety tips.

“Freshwater anglers can learn more about native and pest species, stocking programs and trout waters.”

The guides can be obtained from NSW Fisheries offices, fishing licence agents like bait and tackle shops, as well as from Fishcare volunteers.

More information about the guides and NSW fishing rules are available by calling 1300 550 474.
