I use the Shimano TSS4 spinning reel. Good drag system on them and 5.8:1 retrieve (I think).

Go the Okuma EFS 80. 6.3 : 1 retrieve ratio and will cast out of sight . Speed . speed and more speed for macks.

I,ve have both theses reels, efs 60 okuma and Shimano Tss4 ,and for mine the TSS 4 wins hands down , specially on the mackeral.Where ya need speed and good drag system.

TSS4.... or for a bit more fun (and exercise) i use my 4500 baitrunner ;D have to wind a bit faster but the "new and improved" version isnt to bad to use at all. alot of the time you dont need a SUPER fast retreive. for example i have found the past few days a very erratic retrieve has come up with the goods.

merv, for mine you can't go past the penn spinfishers in 8500ss or 9500ss, they are virtually unbreakable and have a pretty quick retrieve as well, although the tss4 is a bit faster.

The Tica Camry with 6.3:1 ratio
A very fast retreive and this reel loaded up with braid on an 8ft live fibre rod does the job on Macks.
Cheers #Brent :)

Mate, I purchased a Penn spinfisher for this exact application for Christmas, just two days ago, I went and purchased the reel I should have purchased to start with the TSS-4 is the way to go, it looks and feels crappy but it does do the job!!! Regarding the minister for finance...just go and buy it use it and then you can not take it back ;D the furore will die down quickly and you will have a TSS4!!!

TSS4 is what I use and works well.

Not the smoothest or cheapest but is fast and robust and that is what you want for Mack's !!! Cheers, Davo.

Any of the above brands are great, accidentally leave your
######## magazine laying around the house. Open that is. Then take her with you to Cash Converters and show her how much of a good deal the one you spotted in the cabinet is. Sure as s@#t sticks to a blanket she'll spot something else in the shop she wants, then just seal the deal with her.
Best of Luck
