Calling young anglers! Come & get hooked on Fishing!
February 3, 2004

Experienced and first-time young anglers in the Armidale area have the chance to brush up on their fishing skills, or learn how to fish at a special clinic being run on 21 February 2004.

The fishing clinic, run by NSW Fisheries at the Dutton Trout Hatchery at Ebor, will give children aged between eight and 14 the opportunity to practise casting, rigging, tying knots and fishing.

“They’ll also learn all about bag and size limits, aquatic habitats, species that are threatened with extinction, and how to fish responsibly,” Steve Dunn NSW Fisheries Director-General said.

“Children will also get the chance to put their skills into action by fishing for trout and may even catch a big one.”

Mr Dunn said fishing clinics were being held around the State as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to teach young people about recreational fishing and conservation.

“This is a great day out and a good way for children to experience the enjoyment of recreational fishing.

“Each participant will get to take home fishing gear, including a fishing rod and reel, a NSW Fisheries T-shirt, cap and water bottle, as well as educational material. Children will also have the chance to win prizes, such as posters and lures,” Mr Dunn said.

NSW Fisheries staff will host the clinic at the Dutton Trout Hatchery, Point Lookout Road, Ebor. The clinic runs from 10am to 3pm.

Admission is $40 per child, which includes lunch and fishing equipment.

To secure a place, call 6775 9139 by Wednesday 19 February, 2004.

Hi Basserman , sorry mate #,one thing that is for sure , is that it's not the RFL at work ,or they wouldn't be charging you i.e. your kid $40.00 ,after you've already paid your $25.00 into the "trust" #>:(

You do know #??? same deal i.e. rfl and 'fishing clinics' are free in Q'ld.

You should check "how many" kids places are actually available , before the TV and radio coverage kicks in, #to dissappoint too many NSW kids.......

Mate ,it's a DISGRACE that they 'charge' at all #.......honest injun #::) :o

Regards
Gazza

p.s. as a Dad ,I have total respect for you "wanting MORE Fishing clinics" to be able to take your kid too ,so don't misunderstand who i'm really talking too ,o.k.? [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
