rex hunt fish and chip shop?

i have just heard that rex hunt and his son own a fish and chip shop in westernport.
can anyone confirm this?
where does he get his fish from?

He certainly did, not sure if he still does? haven't heard that he still doesn't and where do you think fish shops get their fish from ;) commercial fisherman of course ;D

Rex Hunt's D'lish Fish is situated on Port Phillip Bay adjacent to historic Station Pier.

my wife and i once ate at delish fish next to station pier.

it was crap.

we waited 30+ min for the feed. the staff had the radio blairing. i don't just mean loud but soooo loud that the staff couldn't hear our order and we couldn't hear their questions. to make it even worse, they changed the channel every 3-4 min (two staff were having a disagreement about he stations).

the food was no better than the local takeway and we had to eat it on our laps (no tables or very few provided, can't quite remember).

it is a lovely location to get a feed but we resolved to never go there again and haven't.

What is it with the Tall Poppy Syndrome in Australia ?

The credit card proposal is to raise money for the Future Fish Foundation. As stated on the website/popup

dont get me wrong I am not a big fan of rexy but I do agree with most of the thing he has to say he always has said take a feed and possibly he has done more for fishing in the last few years than anyone else

Is that the ex footballer who does a fishing show on TV and radio and made about $11 mill one year from it all...with that kind of money why ask for donations to something..just do it yourself.

Personally, I cannot stand his show (but i cannot tolerate any lifestyle shows)...but good luck to him.

gaz,im not saying that rex should by any black fish,i just want to know why he(& others)continually gives pros a hard time but then turns around and makes a profit from their product
maybe they only use aquaculture product or maybe he only buys fish that have been kissed and released

I think you will find that Rex is all for sustainable fishing. From what I have seen, the Pro's he is usually having a go at are the ones that target the rivers and streams that cannot sustain the amount of Pro activity that is in them at the present time.

Sure he's a bit of a goose but the world would be a pretty boring place if everyone toed the 'conventional' line. What he has done for fishing has been tremendous and if he has made a buck along the way, good on him, that's what you go into business for.

I have just read the comments regarding rex hunt with interest and would like to make a comment

some 15 years ago I guess br (before rex) we as a fishing club invited the then unknown high profile tackle shop owner worn out football playing ex copper down for a geust speaker to one of our club fund raisers we some how flogged a lot of tickets for what we thought would be an ok night
now if anyone has ever heard this man address a room full of half drunk fisherman will know this is a very clever and fantastic,interesting man from start to finish he was amazing there was crap flying everywere but not a sound except from rex he had the room and he kept telling us how lucky he was and the harder he worked the more lucky he got I guess thats how you get the 11 mil a year this guy is not a bad guy he does try his best some love him and some hate him but the guy is fantastic to listen too there is a lot more to rex than what meets the eye so I guess when we have done as much as rex has for the fishing we can cut him down until then listen,sort the crap from the fact and think of the message he is trying to put accross

i know the fishing for the futrue is safer in his hand and i spent the 1 minute it took for the credit card poll (not even a application)
i get more porno pop-up everytime i click the mouse on this thing thats more annoieing
