Wanted: keen young anglers for free south coast fishing clinic!
April 7, 2004
Experienced and first-time young anglers on the Sapphire Coast have the chance to brush up on their fishing skills, or learn how to fish at a FREE clinic being run on Saturday, 24 April at the new Navy Wharf, Edrom Road, south of Eden.

Director-General of NSW Fisheries, Steve Dunn, said this is the 11th fishing clinic for young people run by NSW Fisheries on the Sapphire Coast, and the previous 10 have all been enormously successful.

“The clinic will give young people aged 9 to 12 years the chance to practise casting, rigging, tying knots and fishing for fish like snapper, bream and taylor.

“They’ll also learn all about bag and size limits, aquatic habitats and how to fish responsibly,” Steve Dunn, NSW Fisheries Director-General said.

“They might even catch a big one and be the envy of their family and friends.”

Mr Dunn said fishing clinics are held around the State as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to teach young people about recreational fishing and conservation.

“Each participant will have the chance to win prizes, such as drink bottles, posters and lures, and there’ll be plenty of games to make sure everyone has lots of fun,” Mr Dunn said.

NSW Fisheries staff from the Eden office will host the clinic at the new Navy Wharf, Edrom Road, south of Eden. The clinic runs from 10am to 4:30pm.

Admission is FREE. Fishing equipment is provided.

To secure a place, call 6496 1377 by Monday 19 April, 2004.

Good to see them getting the kids involved.

Just hope they aren't aiming to teach the kids to spell.
They spell it "Taylor" in the article above, but "Tailor" in their bag limits section.
