The Queensland Government has played down concerns by south-east Queensland councils about the health of Moreton Bay, off Brisbane.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman says he and the other mayors are worried that a proposed fish farm has not been ruled out.
And he has accused the Government of refusing to continue funding for research into blue-green algae.
But the Premier has repeatedly warned that the fish farm will have to clear numerous environmental hurdles and the State Development Minister's office says no decision has been made.
The Environment Minister's office says there has also been no decision on more funding for blue-green algae - although the Government has spent more than $1.5 million on the problem in recent years.
