Hi Webby

Try this site:
http://www.mdr.co.nz/
This will download a program called WTides. With it installed you can view and print off graph of tides for any day anywhere in the world from about 1940 to about 2070 I think. Also you can overlay the graphs with among other things a "Good Fishing Chart' (essentially the Mauri Fishing charts). I find its a good overall fishing tool...but I'm still a lousey fisherman. :(

:) :)

Fishing buddy doesn't have the Maori Fishing Chart as WTides does
It does have the Solunar fishing guide.
You also have to pay for fishing buddy to use it past 30 days.
I am getting a few errors that Tony is working on at the moment, when they get fixed it seems it should be a pretty good product

Webby,

Here are 2 links that may be of interest to you. The first is for a free product which I discovered recently. I have used it to integrate the major and minor activity periods and day ratings into a database I have developed for my own use. It most likely uses the same assumptions and calculations that are included in Worldwide Fishing Predictor (which I also own).

The seconds link is to a page on the FlyFlickers site and it is directly related to Worldwide Fishing Predictor. It has background on the theory and is worth a look.

At the end of the day, there is more to working out when fish are likely to be active - things that can't be predicted - like water salinity, barometric pressure trends, bait school availability etc etc. But these tools are not a bad guide to help us pick some times when the chances of catching fish may be good.

Thanks Fellas, Over the years have never really bothered, working by any fishing predictions charts etc.
But am doing some comparsions on trips over the years, and see how they compare with a fishing prediction chart.
As all i've ever work on is tide/moon/wind.
Thanks again

i still out on the value of them inshore, but they do highlight moon activity.

only two things I know that have coincided - there is a definite HOT bite with amity bream on moonset (that is a minor period as described in the charts) for about half an hour they go nuts.

when the moon rises with the sun, school jew school in the pin bar - I've had it happen twice, admittedly both times on week days with few boats to spook them - ripping thru the surface like tailor, i've never seen anything like it - bait showering followed by 5kg missiles, is it the bait effected by the moon & the jew follow - who knows?

anyone else got some examples to share
