Gents,

I asked for these figures in our latest Fish MAC

Commercial Tailor catch July2003/July2004

Quota 102 tonnes
Incidental 45 tonnes
Out of a Total Allowable Catch (TAC) of 160 tonnes combined through 140 tonne quota and 20 incidental.

Obviously didn't reach the TAC to trigger and more investigation but reporting methods will be scrutinised given the higher figure of incidental catches. PS rec figures are not known but figures range between 200 and 300 tonnes.

Spottie Mackeral same period

Quota 72 tonnes
Incidental 29 tonnes
Out of a Total Allowable Catch (TAC) of 160 tonnes combined through 140 tonne quota and 20 incidental.

The removal of netting has had a dramatic effect combined with a windy season in the northern line fishery around Bowen last year restricting commercial catch. Rec figures unkown.

Only other couple of points that I can give away at this time is that there's likely to be a reduction of around 300 netting allocations across Queensland as a result of the latest show cause conditions. (ie they weren't using them anyway).

And you probably already know this but the Federal Government is talking around 100 to 110 full commercial licence removals (not just endorsements) as a result of the GBRMPA RAP.
