The Federal Government has failed to table information revealing details of a decision to rezone Repulse Bay on the Great Barrier Reef.

Labor Senator Jan McLucas called a "return to order" motion, seeking the release of documents over an apparent last minute change made to the fishery.

A freedom of information request by Sunfish Mackay is being hindered by a "third party" which the group believes is the Federal Member for Dawson De-Anne Kelly.

But Mrs Kelly has denied she has anything to hide and has accused Senator McLucas of ignoring the confidentiality rights of the electorate.

"I don't think that anybody in my electorate would like a situation whereby they knew that any senator could call on a minister to reveal their private correspondence," she said.

"Confidentiality is something all constituents rely upon."
