The Queensland Seafood Industry Association has welcomed the Federal Environment Minister's pledge to announce changes to a compensation package for reef fishermen within a week.

Association president John Olsen says the current package is too limited.

Mr Olsen says the amendments to the package need to provide realistic assistance to all businesses affected by the reef rezoning.

"If somebody bears a cost as a result of the implementation of the Representative Areas Program that they wouldn't have borne had the program not been implemented, then that person needs to be adjusted for that cost, whatever that cost is," he said.

If Johns' implying more widespread compensation than just for Commercial Fishos , I'd support that statement totally.

This lock-it-up mob had better put a price on needless closures........now.......and any other stupid decisions they make.

Even if the only outcome, is to put a price on any sweetheart vote-buying deals with these d'hds.
