I have been asked by a mate to do a crabbin/fishin trip to Styx River in Southern Broadsound (CQ) in late Nov/early Dec. Just curious if anybody has been there or if they know the place. I have read that it has the largest tide variances on the east coast which i guess means it'll be a lot of work but from what he tells me high rewards. Looking for any info on the place??

Cheers
JD

Hi JD, You're right about the tides in that area. Broadsound is a tidal focus & so has the biggest tides on the east coast. The fishing is great a mate of mine who used to work in the area told me. Never got that far north myself. The trouble is that access is mostly through private land & most of the graziers in the area don't allow access unless they know you. You may be able to launch where the railway line crosses the river or at Charon's Ferry but either way watch the tides. Bill
