Just an update.
There's a Stacer boat being given away as a random draw.
Major division prizes include Humminbird Sounders, Downunder Iceboxes & Supercharge batteries, fishing gear from Shimano & Wilsons + more.

There's an early nomination prize on offer so get in early to be elligible.

With plenty of entry forms in early, organisers have booked a band to play on the friday night as well as Saturday night, all undercover in a massive marquee.

There will be some Stacer boats up there to look at & test drive.

Alvey are running a Kids Casting Clinic on the Saturday lunchtime for any kids (under 15) who are entered in the Klassic.

Entry forms available in October edition of Qld Fishing Monthly, Bush N Beach, in assorted marine/tackle outlets & at the SWFSA website http://www.sweetwaterfishing.com.au/swfsa/KirkleaghKlassicEntryF-1.pdf

Some big bass & golden perch being caught in the past few weeks up there. Good timing for the comp.

All competitor cards will be handed out after the 5:00am briefing on Saturday morning. There will be another briefing at 8:00am for those who sleep in or arrive later.

All shaping up to be a great weekend of fishing & camping. ;D

Any enquiries phone 0412 161169 or email fitzy@ausfish.com.au

Hope to see you there.

It's great to see the Klassic up and running again this year, better than ever. Excellent support from the Corporate sponsors means heaps of great prizes to give away.
Stacer Boat
Minn Kota Electrics
Humminbird Sounders
Down Under Ice Boxes
Super Charge Batteries
Shiimano
Wilson
and heaps of other stuff.
The cheaper camping fee for the weekend is an added bonus.
Someset is fishing well by all accounts so there shouldn't be a problem getting a few Bass or Yella's, and the bait guys will clean up on the Silvers.
I've heard that there are some pretty fancy boats entering as well, so anyone interested in looking at state of the art fishing machines will just need to be on the water. With the secret length format, everyone has a chance of winning.
I'll be there, doing some fish measuring on the water this year, so if you see a red Hornet, come and say G'day and have your fish measured so we can get them back in the water alive and kicking. Just be a bit careful, 'cause it's quite likely I'll have a line out the back. ;D You're also welcome to keep a feed of fish and weigh them in as well.
The more the merrier, and it is a great weekend for the kids as well. I don't think many of the kids miss out on a prize, which is how it should be. The Alvey boys will be putting in a top effort to run their Casting Clinic, and a lot of us adults could probably learn a bit from the Alvey Team.
All of that, without even mentioning Saturday night's socialising, it'll be a top weekend!!! [smiley=drunk.gif]

BIGGER AND BETTER!!!
Ya think so! there's some big hitters up there as sponsors,it stands as testament to the sucess this Klassic and it's orgnisers.

the format is very sucessfull and it has long ago estalibshed it's self as the Major event not to miss!!!

as for the entertainment.... well Fitzy himself has been known to consume just enough bottled courage to git up and belt out a tune of 4,not to mention the secert Nuggett keeps hidden about his Gutitar Playing, the man is a "Blues Man" through and through. ;D ;D

with a entrant cap at 1000,i'd be pulling my finger out and geting a nomanation in real fast!!

a sensational event, great company - great fishing and mostly great friends,so load up the crew and head out.

i know many - people that go just for the sake of hooking up with friends thay see once a year at this event, you will no doubt meet some new ones as well.

and ya never know it could be you towing home a NEW BOAT!!!!!!

good luck to all,i'll see you there.
Hookin,Brett ;D ;D ;D

It's good to see it back - bigger and better than ever.
The Kirkleagh Klassic was one of the first all weekend comps - boy we had some fun in the early days!

Fitzy will there be a live weigh in on the water like in the past?
It's also good to see the nightly entertainment back - it always has a great country atmosphere - I'm going to try to get up there after tthe radio Show.

Look forward to it - maybe we should have a meet and greet up there - Team Ausfish!

G'day Nugget,
As far as I know there will be a live weigh in tent as in the past, and also a couple of boats on the water measuring and releasing fish. I'll probably concentrate on the area between Beams Creek and The Spit as a weigh boat, that way I can catch a few, and weigh a few for the boys and girls. Save the competitors the big run back to Kirkleigh every two fish.

G'Day Nugget,
Yep, there'll be a tent on the water at Kirkleagh, one at the staging area & a couple of boats on the water all measuring fish. Will help any line-ups. Full details for competitors at the Saturday briefings.

Cheers,

Just an Update.
There is currently a fire ban in place in Kilcoy Shire so either plan to take a gas cooker, use one of the several electric BBQs at the campground or buy your tucker up there.

I sent you a message just before... How many on water marshalls are there, it is a top idea especially as you know trying to keep a yella alive is impossible!

Cheers

Don't know about that Murray, I've caught yella's early in a session and decided to keep it and had them stay alive for up to 4 hours in a live well, as I like to bleed them before filleting.

Regards
Paul Cade

PS: I'm one of the Marshalls

Hi Murray,
Got your email, along with about 50 others about the Klassic. There will be 2 on water Marshals. Paul Cade is one of them, Dale Sinclair is the other. Have another on stand-by/back-up if needed and to take any media people and/or VIPs out for pics etc.

The early season yellas are mainly the females. By mid - late October the males kick in & dominate catches. It is the males that go belly up pretty quick, the girls seem to be made of tougher stuff.

Cheers,

fitzy..
