A shop in cairns sells it for $4 a litre out of a 44gallon drum, quicksilver (mercury/mariner) stuff. So I am guessing that they buy it for a bit less than that. Who would be interested in splitting a 44? Say in 20 litre quantities? (ie need 10 people). If people are intersted I will look into it and get a price.

Thats not bad ... 5l containers are easier to handle than 20's or 200's. I will check it out.

Thanks

The last lot I bought was a 20 litre drum of Caltex that was on sale at northside for $99.00

Was worried that it was not as good as Yammalube that I normally got, but could not tell any difference. Probably is not as good, but I am happy.

I have a MERC. I use Quicksilver oil at present - can I use other brands? is it advisable?

I have a friend who is in the management team of one of our regional Caltex distributors (his uncle owns it). Would it be worth me approaching him regarding a Caltex brand?

i cannt see any different in the oil as long as the specs are the same and most are.

i have used caltex for the past year and the motors are still running.
i have used the brand that costs the less ::)
the motors are 10 years old and never had a service.... :o ;D ;D

I bet he has changed the plugs a few times. :P
There is a lot less to worry about on an older style two stroke.
