My average trip, including waypoints you are all welcome to fish. The trip shown is 79.28km. The furthest point is some of the local snapper fishing areas. At most of the points of the islands going across is good for big aust salmon. Generally the area is about 10 to 15m but there is some deeper channels and gutters. There is also lots of places to hide from the weather if needed (quite often). The waters between some of the islands can pick up from dead calm to 3+m of swell with crap on top caused by current and wind within 1/2 hour.

When leaving smithton you will see a sharp turn to the right, thats a big sandbar that you can only cross at 1/2 tide and in good conditions

Blaze,

I didn't realise you were from Smithton. I use to know someone that moved from WA to Smithton. Small world.

Blaze, How close are you to Saint Helens?
Just saw Rob Paxevarnis(sp) he fished this area and caught a heap of decent sized and intersting fish, huge Gar, huge Trumpeter and another that I didn't know and missed what it was :-/. Good fishing down there by that account.nq

Hi Nq
5hrs by twisty, hilly road, but still close enough to go for a weekend fish, probably leave the boat down there this year for a couple of months and fish locally with the tinnie
