Don't know if this is in the right spot but here goes..

I am looking at buying a digital video camera.

I have searched the net and I am more confused than when I was while choosing a mobile phone. ??? ???

What video cameras do you guys use?

What is their good points?

What is their bad points?

Are they robust?

What else should I be asking???

Regards

Brett

Stick to Sony, Canon or JVC and you won't go too far wrong.

You are better to buy a base model and back it with a good digicam rather than try to get one that does both. Sony hdrfx1 is nice have a look at it:-)

If I was to buy another one I'd be looking at the new Panasonic 3 CCD model. 3CCD digital cams used to be min $7 - $8000 + a few years ago - you can now get high quality models starting around $2000 I believe.

3ccd models will give you very close to a professional broadcast quality picture. Many documentry makers shoot the entire thing on small 3CCD Sony or Canon video cameras - plenty of the reality TV shows use them.
