Neap tides are on the 1st quarter or last quarter of the moon.

They are the tides with the smallest variation between high and low tides.

The spring tides are on the new or full moon, where the tidal difference is the greatest.

The type of tide that is best depends on the location and species you are targeting.

Not good fishing but great spearing and diving because the water dosnt move to much and doesnt stir up the silt and sand

Not always true. There are spots in the Hawkesbury that you only fish on the neap because there is too much run other times. I would have thought areas like the Seaway & Tiger Mullet would be like that ??

Adelaide River is the same (north of Proserpine). Runs way to quick on a spring tide. Runs too quick on any tide actualy.
