All the good-eating reef species, the likes of Snapper, Pealies and Red Emperor (if I'm lucky). Love chasing Snapper in Moreton Bay and Spotties when they're here. As far as the pelagic species are concerned, Wahoo is on the top of my list as they are great to catch and they are also good eating.

Cheers,
NICK.

To me the best fish to catch are gar on a long light rod and 1 kg line. Mini-marlin.

One of the sweetest fish to eat as well.

Has never changed for me. Snapper and Flathead :o yes flathead. There are some better tasting fish, lots that are more of a challenge, but I just love these fish.

The good old australian salmon on light gear, or fly. They might hang deep for a bit then spend the rest of the fight tail walking around the boat. Never caught a marlin but these little guys give such a good account of them selfs I think the fight would be just as good when the ratio is 6:1 and unlike tuna they dont give up.
The good old gummy shark to eat.
cheers

Barra. Caught 'Barramundi Fever' 11 years ago and can't seem to shake it. Thousands of dollars later, a 4Wd, boat and all of my annual holidays and I'm still trying to catch one bigger than the last! ;D ;D

At the rate that I actually get to go fishing lately, anything that hits the deck. Especially if it is actually the fish I am targeting - Makes all the effort just that little bit more worthwhile.
For eating: Jacks

I move back to the Sunshine Coast later in the year & one of the things I will miss about Sydney fishing is the Australian salmon. Blaze is on the money. They are the poor man's marlin. Try one about 2-3K on light gear and you will be very very impressed with their fighting capabilities. The fact that they school up & you can cast to them for an hour or so makes it even more fun.

Blackbream - niggers - luderick!
Call 'em what you like but for skill, fighting and a thrill, you can't go past them! On a par with fly fishing I reckon where you have to know a bit about the rigs, bait and techniques to bring home a feed! Not a brilliant taste but on a par with Happy Moments!

Jacks by miles!!!
I love going to where I catch them, being where I catch them, and although only a short fight, the challenge of extracting them from thier home snag. Top that off with the fact that they are superb eating...... Luv em ;) ;) ;)

Regards, Tony

Im with you agnes, jacks all the way. Every single jack you catch is always special dont know why I guess they just have a quality about them that no other fish can match.

Mighty Murray Cod. unreal on lures and even better on surface lures!!!! no better rush than a surface lure getting eaten in the pitch black at your feet, and scaring the shit out of you as if someone has just thrown a boulder over your head!!

love all the freshwater fish! :D :D
