Yes this is fishing related (sort of). #::)
I was sorting my lures on the lounge floor last night after the weekend and the stupid dog picked up a 40 g slug by the treble. #[smiley=dunce.gif]
Anyway the dog bit , the lure bit back and after a few good head shakes any self respecting snapper would be proud of , he was firmly hooked. [smiley=anxious.gif]
After a few anxious moments , a lot of comotion and lots of blood (dogs and mine) it was nearly sorted. I managed to get one hook out backwards, cut another off and pushed it through his bottom lip and cut the third , but it was in at an angle and dissappeared into his bottom lip with just the very tip of the point sticking out the other side. [smiley=uhoh.gif] #
If he would hold still long enough I could probably manipulate it out a bit and grab it with the pliers and pull it through, but it is a bit tender and he is a little gun shy after last night, so it is probably time to call in the experts. #:-/
I know how much you guys appreciate photos but I didn't have time to take any with a 50kg dog going berko. #:o

I don't want to spend a fortune, but he might need knocking out, if only for 30 seconds. So can anyone recommend a vet Brissy area. ???

If the bastard would sit still and stop chewing on me I would have it out already.
Maybe I'll leave it in there, might rust out like it does with the fish. ;D

yeh, my local vet has a sign up saying he is the equivalent of 26 specialist - no wonder he charges so much

Good chance for an experiment. Take notes over the next few weeks for how long it takes to corrode out.

You might have to start calling him Marlin now, and fill the fridge with XXXX Gold.

A big one Solefish, Ban Dog, about three quarters Neapolitan Mastiff one quarter American Staffordshire Terrier. Only about 10 months old, 50 kgs of stupidity , and I am stupid for leaving the lures where he could get them. :P
Thanks for all your input, when I got home last night it looked as though the hook had worked its way out about 2 mm , so I grabbed the tip with a pair of pliers when he wasn't looking and he did the rest. He seemed fine, no blood , none the worse for wear (cept for two lip piercings), so cancelled the vet appointment, probably saved $200 , now what will I spend it on , a new reel maybe. ;D
This was a bit over 3 months ago, grown a bit since.

Poor Babe
Hope he recovers alright. With a bit of luck she might stay away from your fishing gear however having dogs myself thats probably being way to optomistic.
