G`day Fellas,
My daughter was talking to a kakadu ranger I think he was,and he said the crocs are building their nests a month early, and much hifher than has been seen for some time,he said this behaviour generally meant that they were heading for an extremely wet summer and floods, but she didn`t think to ask him if it was only related to kakadu,or for the whole of australasia.
So how about it boys any kakadu eperts on this site, and if so whats your opinion.

Mick
When does the wet season normally finish up there?
I thought maybe March -april it would be starting to finish
Croc's nesting now and being a month early would point to rain in March- april ???
Be interesting to see if the buggers are on to it.
Maybe bom could hire the odd croc at times to help em out :-X

They cant be to smart as they still eat the old cane toad which is terminal. Did you know some people reckon that most crocs in the du will be dead in 20 years from cane toads.

Gumboots, an old croc from the du, has his masters in marine environment and I know another that has a bachelor in medicine, not to mention the several solicitors up there.

I think the crocs in kakadont and the bom workers are related ;Das it looks like a way below average wet this year, and looking at the bright blue sky outside it dont look like geting any better, but fingers are crossed. This is out of yesterdays paper- average rain from oct to end of feb is 1242.1mm and at this stage we have had 941.4mm of rain, average for feb is 360.4mm, so far we have had 148.8mm. So unless the heavens open up and dump a heap of rain on us up here the crocs are just as reliable as the bom. ;D ;D

How far back did you go to dig this one up. ;D The date on the post is 25th Aug 2001. Might be a chance for scientific research- how wet was the wet 2001/2002?

So did anyone have their money on the crocs? Not sure what it's like up there, but Ingrid with rain and a storm surge must be having some impact.

Don't ever relate nature to the BOM. They're far too smart for that......
