31-03-2005, 09:04 AM
Help, I would like to show a co-worker the skeleton of a catfish that has the depiction of Jesus on the cross.
I don;t know if this is all catfish but in the NT if you clean off and dry out a catfish the skeleton has a vague figure of a cross ect.
Does anyone have a phot of one they could post as I can;t find it on the web, I recently saw them for sale at the markets and my grandmother has a couple but she is too far away.
Any help please

Crucifix catfish: Arius Proops
I found a painted one here: http://australia.jrn.msu.edu/2003/lindsaywd.html
The one here has been carved out to accentuate the crucifix:
I think this one is intact:

Are the catties the eel tailed or forky tailed variety??

Grant's Guide to Fihes (Queensland) had a good picture - my scanner is out of action, otherwise I'd post it.
