i fish the south coast nsw off the rocks,i use a 12foot rongoon rod and a alvey side caster using 10pound line and a bobbby float and cunji as bait, i get one in 20 strikes i usuallt fish at about 4 metres, what am i doing wrong?

Line weight. thats the only problem. A drummer will bust you up if your using 30lb line, let alone 10lb. Up the line weight and you should notice changes,

Have done a bit of drummer fishing around Minnie Water NSW' use a medium weight rod 24-30 Lb line and 4/0 strong hooks. If you go for the 24 lb line you are more likely to pick up a good bream too but if you hook into a large blue groper you may be wishing you had the 30 lb line cause you can't let them go backwards much or they will head for caves etc. 650 alvey is my choice of reel cause you can get it wet and dirty and it still hangs in there.
Best of luck, but u need heavier gear.

i agree with the other guys. up the ante, a 3kg pig off the rocks pulls like buggery.if you have a boat anchor 3 boatlengths off the spot & cast in & hang on. burley with bread balls & use royal prawns peeled, or abgut, only use cungie when rotten, cheers, kevy. :D :D
