Saw this yesterday arvo near the mouth of the Ross river in Townsville. It was extreme low tide as you can see by how far the cab is from the end of the boat ramp. The truck was carrying a full load of concrete blocks. I didn't see it happen but i'm guessing that someone forgot to use the handbrake. Couldn't see any other reason for it to be anywhere near there. They tried unseccessfully for an hour or so to winch it out before i headed off. Hope they got it because the tide was coming in fast and peaked at over 4m.

there's a few more photos in today's Townsville Bulletin. I particularly like the one where they are chucking the concrete blocks off the back straight into the water :-X

No need for a boat artificial reef at the ramp #;D
I drove a truck like that once ::)
I sank the coastguards old land cruiser when all the brakes failed on the ramp many years ago now it was in desperate need of replacing anyway.
It just slowly chugged into the water with the weight of the boat pulling against the gears and I could not start the engine.

i know the bloke who owns the truck and what happened is the truck was loaded up to go over to magnetic island to do a job and as the truck reversed onto the barge, the truck was too heavy and pushed the barge back out into the water casuing the truck to slide down into the water
woops!

nah, I don't believe it....he was installing an extension to the ramp, which certainly needs it looking at that low tide shot!!!!
