:oFISHERMEN in northern Thailand have caught the biggest catfish on record – a 293-kg giant the size of a grizzly bear – and eaten it, the WWF and the National Geographic Society have said.

The giant catfish, believed to be the largest freshwater fish ever found, was caught along the Mekong River, home to more species of massive fish than any river on Earth. :o

Thats a big fish. Dont reckon I would want any fillets of it, not with the hygiene standards those guys have.

Knife? You would need a chain saw for that

Yeah - there's a photo of it in today's Courier Mail. Wouldn't be too keen on eating anything from around there.

Shame they can't read English. If they'd have looked closer they'd've seeen a tag saying, "The Verminator was here, please return fish to water for stocking purposes" :-)

I hear they caught it on 4ld line, killed it, then one bloke jumped off the tinnie and onto it's back and paddled it to shore ::) ;D.

It shouldn't have been killed >:( :(.

Thats one big freshwater fish. At least it was eaten and not wasted.

I think he is holding that out to camera with arms outstretched behind the fish :) :) :), the same way you can get a whiting to look a metre long

Wow almost as big as General Sherman. He was the giant catfish from the Simpsons episode where Homer could only think of going fishing instead of spending the weekend with his wife.
I wonder if there are any more that size in the river.
Also it would be interesting to know how old that huge fish was. He must have been avoiding fishermen for years.
