If you read some of the American boating sites they have to "winterise" their boats..take them out of the water and drain all the fluids out....and leave it there till summer..what a waste of time...only a few months of the year to go boating and fishing.

The opposite CAN happen here too... we had a boat on a mooring a few years back on a really hot day and the heat expanded the air in the hull and blew the bungs out... yep she sank :'(

It looks a bit like the Finger Lakes district in upstate New York or perhaps lCanada. It's quite often you'll see ice buildup by the sides of lakes. Wind evaporates the water and freezes it almost instantly. You also get massive "lake effect snow" - eg Buffalo NY had 7 ft of snow in 2 days while I there. This is enough to bury everything completely and you can snow board jump off your house roof and into your front garden (if your house is high enough and the roof hasn't collapsed)

I think it would take you a few momments to clear the ice from the wind shield - NOT.

Wouldn't have to worry too much about icing the catch straight away. Adds a whole new thought process to the term Snap frozen
