I think the record still stands as Alf Dean's white pointer shark that was caught in streaky bay is the largest fish caught on rod and reel. I think it went 3 tonne( ???)

I guess scales is the key word here. Do sharks and marlin have scales? ? ? ?

If not it's got to be a bluefin tuna. Current world record stands at 1496 pounds.

Alf Deans white pointer that still holds the record was 2664 pounds and was caught in 1959.

well sharks do have scales (small teeth like scales)
biggest fish would have to be a big marlin but for on that has scales well that would have to be something like a sunfish or hallbut
why not search the internet for fishing records???

I think the record (Australian, anyway) was actually set in WA. If memory serves me corrrectly, a guy on the shore landed a 234lb estuary/gold spot cod some years back.

Now these fish definitely have scales

Jay, that's an atlantic bluefin, they are a much larger species than yellowfin. I believe theres 3 different species of bluefin tunas altogether.
