Thanks Dale

I noticed you registered on August 24th

The site has been around since 1994 but this style of chat board was started on 23/08/01

There was another chat board before this one that qute a few members might remember. It was very basic considering what we have today.

Below is a snap shot of the general section the day this new style of board was released.

Congrats to you Steve and to all involved. Perhaps some sort of benevolent fund could be started?? :-? My wife reckons she has become an Ausfish widow. ;D

I remember the first one of these types of things I saw which was the Listservers Boat Page. It was mostly guys from Sydney. It might have even been more like a newsgroup with all the posts coming in via e-mail. Few years ago now. People like ########/GCFBC, Heath etc. were on it but finding Ausfish was great. A lot more Qld content. The old Ausfish board was a big step up from the Listserver page. Think it still exists in one form or another but it is still very Sydney centric.

Well done Steve for all your hard work.

BTW am up and running perfectly at home and work now. Thanks for fixing that up.

:o :o :o We had live chat back then to. Awwwwww Phil, you were missing me. :P :P ::) ::) ::) ::)

We sure have come a long way. I remember one of my first involvements with Ausfish was to send Steve an email complaining about the language on the board, so what happened, he made me a moderator. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Congratulations Steve, this version is the best forum design I have ever seen. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Kev,

You don't think these events are in any way related, do you? :)

Love the site guys, keep up the good work.

Good luck,

Well, Well, hasn't the time flown.

Yes, Steve, things were fairly primative back then, and I suppose we were that way ourselves. Speaking for myself, anyway. I joined up on the 25th, by accident, I suppose and have never looked back.

To the rest of you Ferets, I have been either a pain or pal, but at the end of the day, I have enjoyed every compliment, biatch slap, jibe, argument, piece of information, M & G and topical posts.

I have done a quick count, and believe that I have met over 200 Ausfishers in my time here, and have other contact with many more. Mateship has emerged and an understanding of the Fishing Life, most of us lead.

There are some interesting characters here, some very smart, some willing to learn and some know-it-alls ;) aghhhh just love fishing here !

Anyhow, great improvements all round and look forward to more years of the same.

Cheers to All, Phill

I mean this without any animosity at all, but since this site has celebrated another milestone, Phill could we consider dropping the 'ferets' please.
You have all done a marvelous job. Moderators and administrators. I know I have only been here a short while, but you don't have to be a Rhodes Student to see that this site works.
I tips me lid to you all!

;D ;D

I tell you Mike, when I first came here (to Oz) I couldn't believe the lingo.

"Keep the bastards honest" "It's a bloody bastard of a day" "he's a good old bastard' etc. None of it sounded the least profane (to me) and in most cases the Aussies seem to have a way about them so that when they swear there's a sort of endearing quality as to how they do it, except when they have a plastic bag wrapped around their water intake :) Rather like Billy Connolly. I know that some may disagree with me, as he isn't everyone's cup of tea or Bundy rum, but his usage of "everyday Glaswegian vernacular" always has me in stitches.

I know that this is a family forum but part of it's charm is that it's "Aussieness" shines through in it's humour and often blunt (honest) speech (type). In saying that I recognise the fine line that moderators have to tread when considering what may be inappropriate, and I think they've done a fine job whilst still retaining the site's (it's members') "persona".

Long may it be so.

cheers

Congrats steve
gee i cant remember when i joined but things have changed over time as
Phil said
[Yes, Steve, things were fairly primative back then i remember a few primitive things, like someone (male) running around in spandex on a m&g with a spud down his front, or was that a pair of socks, then there was this guy on another m&g that said anchor ya boats up there the tides right for the morning, what happens, we all have to push the damn rigs back to the water, or those that could be pushed, but i wont mention any names hey phil #;D
