Blaze,

Don't get too carried away down there ;). I was speaking to friends in Hobart last night and I know exactly where I would rather be regarding climate.

It actually rained here yesterday and again last night for the first time in about 3 months.

Well, Blaze, that's a provocative statement, isn't it?? When you go to the M & G in October, you'll probably be feeling the heat, and it won't just be from the weather!!

We actually had some stuff falling from the sky during the week; I think it's called RAIN. It's a pity it wasn't falling where it's needed most. I'd like to see about 200 mm fall out west over say a week, followed by another 200mm a few weeks later so the people on the land can get some green stuff on the ground growing.

Water is a bit of a 5 letter word around here at the moment with the State Government, the Brisbane City Council and various Shire Councils adjacent to Brisbane all telling us we've been very naughty and are using too much and that it will cost us more.

My question to them is, given that over a lot of years the S E corner has had a (supposedly) massive influx of people settling in the region, what have these various bodies done about increasing water storages?

The answer in my view is F A.

Just a bit of a beef that's all.

Hi Blaze,

Dont let them know about todays weather, it was that bad on the North West my house was without power for 8 hours.

Roads are also closed because of flooding and fallen trees, at least its Spring tomorrow :).

Cheers Andy.

Why thank you Relaxed.

It's good to see that somebody gives an honest weather report from time to time.

Yesterday I had on shorts, t shirt. Bring on Spring!!

like I said, the higher temp was the lull before the storm, we had 150k winds. Had things blow off the shed roof I had put there years ago and forgot I owned. BUT we got no probs compared to the poor buggers in the states.
cheers

Spoke to a few guys in Launceston and Ulverstone last night. I'm glad I live in Queensland. Seems like it happened very quickly and came at a timer when water reserves were actually quite low.

They were telling me that they had even closed the boat ramps in the Great Lake because they didn't reach the water and were unsafe.

I don't think they have to worry about that now with 8 inches in 1 day recorded at the Great Lake.

If only it would rain here.
