Over the past three weeks myself and a friend kevin denlay have been diving a old shipwreck offshore noosa with the help of GBC as surface support. The wreck appears to be between 135-145 years old and is of great historical value as it is untouched . We have recovered the ships bell and several bottles which have been used to help date the wreck and with a possible identification , which at this stage seems a long way off. These artifacts have been handed over to the museum as any wreck of this age is protected from plunder by the historical shipwrecks act 1972. Hope to post some pics soon !

We don't want to plunder it-far from it, but are there any big Snapper hanging around the wreck? LOL
Sounds very interesting and looking forward to the pics for sure.

Can't believe you've got the ships bell already. The Fat Captain will be really pissed ;D

Bloody tech w@anker diver B@stards!!!!! I was stuck driving the boat around and around with some of the best shows I've ever seen on the sounder and they wouldn't let me even have a rod on board!!!! Something about stirring up the local Tigers or something? I've heard about Pumas in Victoria, but Tigers off D.I.???
P.S. I have the marks and WILL sell them for $US500k.... I'll need at least that to leave the country

Yes it did and we are trying to correct a certain reporters gross misrepresentation of what was actually told to him. >:( >:( >:(

How it got from an old 1860-1880 wreck to the oldest wreck discovered in australia is a quantum leep i'm struggling to fathom.

Here's the pics.

The light is much better down there than appears in the pics , the darkness is the result of flash photography. If any one has marks for a wreck that they would like pics of please get in contact with me. All marks are confidential and will go no further. ;)
Cheers Ian

Ps. up to 100m deep, any deeper is just gets a little to difficult but it can be done

That's probably why i own a scooter. ;) It's really not all that bad once your in the water although the current can really knock you about. Before you get in the water is a different mater that rig of mine weighs just over 70kgs and standing around with that on your back is very exausting, as crazy as i sounds getting into the water strapped into a 70kg diving rig is such a relief. ::)
Ian

Ps. the vis on that first dive was amazing !!! close to 50meters :)
