Do you actually watch those so called "current affairs" shows? They specialise in the triple f's...Fats, Freaks and Fast bucks..most of their stories fall into those categories and any story resembling current affairs is purely coincidental.

I agree with Pinhead the channel 7 & 9 "current affairs" shows at 6-30pm are only just short of 'An Alien Fathered My Baby' class reporting, and that is after very close measurement with a micrometer. :o

They are the masters of making mole hills into mountains and editing for the most sensational viewing, never allowing the truth to get in the way of a good story. Even if there isn't a story there they will make one.

it is little wonder real current affairs (ie the great nurse debate to keep a fishing thread) do not get true air time between the tabloid drivel from channels 7 & 9 & the lefty green barrow pushing Idealologists of Aunty & SBS. Four Corners on the ABC is the closest we have to seriously researched & investigated TV journalism but its not like it used to be.

What happened to the Sixty Minutes of old ...
Ray's gone Tabloid
George has got so anti establishment he'll never accept a place in a nursing home
Jana .... maybe its dancing with the stars next # ::)

Speaking of 60 minutes, something I do take seriously is the illegal fishing trade from Indonesia and the survival of the pategonian toothfish.
60 mins is featuring a story either on customs or the navy on sunday night.
I feel strongly about this subject as I believe the government is directing to much money to state fisheries to catch little Johnny with an undersized flathead and not enough money to AFMA to deal with the illegal foriegn fishermen.

Ray is actually on "Tabloids" and fast becoming one himself

I really can't get enough of him actually reading scripts....someone there is making them up

If you wanna get the other side of most stories, I prefer Media Watch, channel 2, 9 pm mondays.

Yep if you want unbiased factual reports the ABC tends to open the eyes up a little ;)

Besides, more often than not the actual facts are more interesting than the made up hype on the commercial channels - I guess when you own a TV station it must be nice to have your own point of view thrust on a generally unsuspecting public who believe all they see on the box

I remember all of Ray's chest beating when he returned to the series about how Australia was lacking in good strong investigative journalism and how he would bring that back to the tube. What a joke he has turned out to be.

Dont watch any of those shows as they are full of s*&^%$#
As said you only see what they want to put to air and cut the truth out.
I would rather watch deal or no deal.

yep Ray tried to beatup on some friends of ours and ended up haveing to settle out of court.
they run with the best media story and not the real story and had to pay up and appologize for misleadeing the public.
it cost them $5000 while not much to pay for a crock o crap bull dust story, containing only half facts and creative editing.
old RAY is a HAS BEEN.
I stopped watching his dribbles years ago cost he's long lost the plot.

a corrupting disease of idealogy in place of commercialistic bias is a disease non the less. Media watch & Late-line have absolutely overstepped the unbiased mark a few times lately; a great sham err.. shame really.

That said, I am yet to see any quality investigative journalism or Australian current affairs of signifigance on commercial TV this century; and I won't hold my breath.
