mud crabs

I am new to catching muddies and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the difference betwen male and female crabs. Also the best bait for the pots and the trick to tying them up and cooking them.

Muddies - welcome to what I reckon you will find to be a very helpful site

If you use the Search button at the top of the page you will find a fair bit about mud crabs. #also at the very top of the page is the "hints and Tips" button. #Somewhere in there I'm pretty sure Nugget has some notes on bait etc.. Though this could be extended with some info on reading river banks/mangroves/rainfalll etc to help you find where they might be.

The DPI fisheries in your state will have the information of male/female and what can be taken - it differs a lot between QLd and NSW
