Sportsfish is a big fan of spanish videos ;) ;) but I am sure he was looking for something a little different to this :D
I liked at one stage the presenter just gives up trying to protect himself. Awesome footage.

Looks like a great spot.

Thanks for the clip.
My Dad used to tell me about fishing for mullet like that many years ago in the Brisbane River. They would string a vertical net down the center of the dingy, then hang a lantern out the front and row into a school of mullet on the banks. I remember him saying that sometimes they would have to turn the lantern off because they would be in danger of sinking with too many fish!
Also was talking to a doctor from Papua New Guinea and he was telling me the natives there use a similar technique in their canoes. But they have a species of giant garfish up there with a long sharp beak, and every year they get a few cases where a fisherman has been speared in the chest with one of these giant garfish. Often with fatal results.
I live up here on Cape York and a couple of years ago we were camping at a place called Janie Creek. We were up for a bit of croc spotting after tea so we went down and put the spotlight on the water. WOW! An area about a quarter acre erupted with big Diamond Scale Mullet jumping like a school of scalded dolphins. What a sight. It was spectacular and the roar drowned out all the other night noises around.

I spend THOUSANDS of dollars on fishing gear and these buggers use a bloody spotty and a tinny and make my catch look a bit sick.lol. Great vid.

I've gone chasing mullet in the Logan that way.
They weren't that thick though [smiley=shocked.gif]
We towed a couple of bondwood dinghys behind a tinnie with a light on each.
cheers,
Owen

Wish there were subtitles - had heard in the old days boats used to travel the Logan river towing a dingy with a board down the middle and using lights and slapping the water had a similar effect on the mullet - don't know how true it was.
