Try a bag of rock salt. The theory is that salt water freezes at a lower temp than fresh water (which I think is 0 degrees) so it takes longer to defrost. I have no idea of techniques or ratios but I think that you should experiment and report back with the best way to do it so we all know. I think there has been another recent post about maintaining ice maybe there is some tips in there.

Cheers Kev

Hey ppl,
now I know this may sound silly but I have never herd of putting salt on the ice to make it last longer, so if any one out there would be kind enough to put it in simply terms ( for a simple person) I would be grateful...Like do I put block ice in the bottom of the esky then salt then party ice and how much salt to how much ice??? and what salt can you use is pool salt o.k.?
