coming up to new moon, so that will help...dark is good

I don't think a bit of light rain would hurt

that's good to hear. and thanks for the info. :)
also does it matter whether it's a run in / run out tide.

depends where you are prawning, if a creek/river, best on the last half of runout in the deeper holes

Are you using a cast net or scoop net???

i'll be using a scoop net, i'll prawning at windang, wollongong. it's low tide a 11pm tonight, that's when i'll be there so is it a good time?

out of my league there - I'm a cast netter from Brisbane.

From my recollection of scoop netting, you will be using a light attractant , so you will want to see the prawn eyes....if its raining the water surface will be too disturbed for that, but hey...fishing is about learning what works and what doesn't.

Sometimes you can have all the factors right and not catch anything and vice versa

we do a bit of prawning in lake macquarie in newcastle and found that when it rains
the prawns tend to go deeper, not sure if all the time, but everytime it rains and the
prawns are running you can see them (their eyes) 4-5 ft deep (too deep for a scoop
with a running tide)
what sort of lights are you using and are you doing it from the bank or a boat
