any tips on where jacks are on the Gold Coast???

Ive been to a couple of locations around where I live on the Coast(Coomera River,Jabaru Island,lake intrepid) where supossed Jacks loom? I use a rapala suface popper(mackeral colour) on 3-8kg shimano dam raider rod & Corvallus 300 baitcaster with 15pd mono.And had no luck getting any bites.I fish on the run in tide in the late after noon, any tips on Locations and what people have used to catch these rare creatures would be appreciated.

mate sovereign island bridge is a goer. monaco st bridge another - use ox kidney for there. currumbin creek upstream from the bridge. and of course the coomera's a goer. any of the canals down there'll hold a jack, just persist! expect some good by-catches too. good luck and let us know how you go.

THanks for that, how do you prepare the ox kidney and what type of hook/leader do you use.

mate depends on exactly how much structure's around for the leader strength, but i'd go at least 50 in the nasty areas. as for the ox kidney, just thread it on as you would a small bit of mullet flesh breaming. make sure the ox is at least 4cm by 4cm. whack a 4/0 mustad on and get ready. give em nothing and if you're using braid as your mainline, make sure your leader is loooong! good luck and let us know how you go.

oh yeah, prawnstar juniors in watermelon work well for me, but i'm sure there are many more plastics that do just as good. not too versed in em yet, primarily fish bait. enjoy.
