swell and seas

whats seas and swell on the weather forecast which one should i be taking notice of when planning a trip offshore...thanks...

Seas are waves created by the wind conditions in your local area.
Swell is waves created by wind conditions in another area and they have travelled to where you are.
eg, a low in the Coral Sea will send swell down to the SEQ coast.
a NE sea breeze in the arvo will create seas on the same part of coastline. cheers
