Who Am I?

I have killed more persons than in all the world wars
I have no natural enemy; I fear neither man nor beast
I lay waste to all those who fail to recognize me
The young, the old, the frail, the sick, the weak and the strong
I make no exceptions and lay waste to all before me
My deadly shadow has been around since man eternal
I recognize no flag, no country and have no Deity
I strike swiftly and deadly at a moments notice
I lay in wait for those who dare to challenge me
Man has tried many times to destroy me but has always failed
There is no defense against me and I fear no attackers
There is no weapon or power that can ever harm me #
My trail of death, injuries and disfigurement is proof of my powers
I kill, main and injure with total impunity and have no fear of recourse
Babes in arms, the poor, impoverished and disabled
No one is safe from my appetite for death and destruction
My victims rarely see me coming yet I am always in their presence
The brave, the courageous, the bold and the confident
I crush, kill, mutilate, mangle, dismember and maim at will
I have no boundaries yet the world trembles in its fear of me
For all have been warned time and time again of my presence
Yet all fail to heed these warnings and fall before my deadly embrace
Who am I?
